Hi all, I have a house purchase coming up in July, so I need to sell a few watches. For sale is my Rolex red Submariner, reference 1680. It is a Mk VI dial, serial 3.76 million from around 1973. The dial and hand lume is lovely as is the bezel insert, which is slightly faded and retains the tritium lume pip. There is a tiny mark on the 11 o'clock minute hashmark as well as over the < sign at 6 o'clock. Original tophat crystal, triplock crown, and silver date disk with open 6s. The case is quite strong and I don't think it has been professionally polished in the past - perhaps shirt polished over the years. It comes on a 9315 folded bracelet with 580 endlinks. Bracelet is stamped I/72 and has the rare "PATETED" misspelling on the diver extension. The movement was serviced in the last year according to the previous owner, but I do not have documentation. However, the watch winds and runs smoothly without noticeable gain or loss of time. Movement and caseback photos are from prior seller, as I do not have a Rolex case wrench. For this watch, I am asking $20,500 which will include Fedex/Parcelpro shipping worldwide. Payment by bankwire/Transferwise. I have tons of reference on OF if you search the Seller Profile section for "MikeMan2727." Returns only if the watch is misrepresented so I am happy to answer any question up front and provide any additional photos you may need.
Thanks for the interest and messages so far. I totally forgot bracelet photos, so they are below. Light stretch to the bracelet with plenty of life left. I have a 6.7" wrist and the bracelet was on the tightest microadjustment, so there is plenty of room for larger wrists.
I don’t have $20k, but you can move into my spare bedroom if I can have the watch. Seriously, this is a gem! GLWS
Thanks for all the interest so far! Was asked to show the open 6 and lume. The photos are below. This reacts like 70s Subs should - fairly dead under UV but with clear "sparkles" in the dial and hands.
