What is the percentage chance of me walking into an AD with no purchase history and Rolex blessing me with the ability to buy an entry-level watch from them? Has anyone inquired about the wait time on these?

And that watch is far from new. I think I can see substantial scuffs on the lugs.

it鈥檚 odd, too, because NIB can be had for a several thousand less

I suppose people may pay a premium for Eric鈥檚 blessing?

In any event, at MSRP, I do rather like the watch with fluted WG bezel and jubilee more than the unfluted SS+oyster

the latter being what OP posted, and can be had for still yet several thousand less (about 2X MSRP)

An 80-1 horse is more likely to win the Kentucky Derby than you are of walking into an AD and finding that watch for sale. 馃槈

What have you been smoking. These were all bought by retired hipsters that moved to Florida

I was hoping to smoke whatever leaves Rolex has printed on their dial, but I guess I'll never be able to find out. 馃檨

The rest of your life, maybe!
I鈥檓 just on the waiting list as of yesterday for a blue 34mm OP. Guy expects around 1yr to 18months. It was a fairly unusual experience in the fact I went through a little interview type discussion with the sales manager. When I mentioned I was a local with my office behind them and that I run a charity he was very keen to note this all down and made a point of congratulating me and stated this will help him remember me over others. Maybe Rolex does help the needy?
I personally doubt this will make a shred of difference but 18 months gives me enough time to gather funds and consider my life choices.

Based on what I read, my experience is very unusual, but thought I'd share.

Back in Nov, my local AD rep mentioned there was a store decision to have no more waiting lists, and they'd sell first come first serve.

Sure enough, I walked in a week later, after lunch, and was able to handle a Rolex 36mm Explorer in gold and steel with the option to purchase. I couldn't pull off the look so declined.

A month later, walked in again, and there was an all steel Rolex 36mm Explorer which I then promptly purchased. My only other purchase history was an Oyster I bought way back 2018 - with similar experience. The guy after me walked in and came out with an Air King.

Perhaps the Explorer 36 is not in high demand?

I was in last week, and they told me they were back to no stock again but had some "exhibition" models which I'd need to make an appointment to see.

Maybe a Zebra aesthetic is more what you鈥檙e after ::stirthepot::

Or maybe a Tiger?

Or a Leopard and a Cage

If I were Nick Cage I鈥檇 definitely need that watch.
If you were Nick Cage you would have had to sell it by now. The man blew through $150 million on properties, cars, and watches; ended up broke. Dumbass. Literally had the money to buy a luxury home, nice car, invest, and live like a king for the rest of his life without having to work again; but ended up slogging through direct to video crap films just to get out of debt.

But then, I guess that's obvious looking at that abomination of a watch. ::stirthepot::

You can鈥檛 separate the art from the artist!

There鈥檚 not a version of Nick Cage who both is good enough to earn $150MM and also behave rationally!
