The original Milgauss was a great failure for Rolex. Few people lived or worked around locations that had high electrical waves, which the "antimagnetic" watch was to be protected from. The Milgauss model number was 1019. Introduced in 1960, they came and went with little fuss. Only 25 or so years later, when nobody could find them, and the vintage watch craze began, did they become popular because of their rarity. All the new big case modern Rolexes are attempts to cash in on the vintage craze by offering a new generation but bigger and heavier than the originals. I'm not a fan of any new big watch...including this. It is like wearing a can of tuna fish on your wrist. If you were to go looking for an original Milgauss, that would be a piece of watch history worth having.
