·Because it's a very tired insert and in my opinion it doesn't have a beautiful fading.
Well that’s part of the reason this hobby is interesting. I love faded bezels, particularly one where the blue has faded in a gradiated manner like this one.

·i'll look great with that red blue insert. It was probably more likely to have been originally fitted with that color as opposed to black. In any case, we can't know, so I say to wear what you like...
Are Pepsi inserts just more likely to be seen on a late 70’s 1675 than black?
I was thinking the black insert was likely original but a couple of people have said it was more likely to have come with a Pepsi and the black is a replacement.

·Swapped out the black for a red back Pepsi. I like both but the Pepsi certainly has the edge.

·Yes, as I understand it, pepsi was standard, black was an option. I know of no definitive numbers proving yours was more or less likely to have a pepsi insert at time of sale, but it just stands to reason. In any case, nobody can know how yours started its life.

·I guess I should've been more clear, but figured what you stated goes without saying. Yes, the salesperson who sold the watch back in the middle 70s would know that. Unfortunately, that is zero help today.
