    Hi all,

Firstly let me apologise for another, could you look over this watch for me please post. You guys have a vast wealth of knowledge and although I’ve picked up a small amount of knowledge about Omegas I’m even more out of my depth when it comes to other watch brands.

I’m looking to purchase my first Rolex and quite like the Coke or Pepsi GMT.

I’ve checked out Chrono and eBay and I’ve come across two possibles.

Here’s the link for the first one, I love the patina on this one 16760
    https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/332802832750

    The second one
    https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/332802853941

I like this one because it’s almost a full set a 16710. I prefer the first one out of the pair but would love some advice on what you guys think like how polished the case is, originality etc. Many thanks in advance.

The second GMT is a "full set" watch?
I can not see the certificate of warranty and official chronometer certification on the picture 1/11.

Neither are great deals. The patina (the lume plots) on the 1st one isn't that nice. The 2nd one has the wrong bracelet. Both are polished.

I prefer pepsi and matte dials (16750), they cost quite a bit more but your money will be safe if you get a good one.

I think they're both so-so, and somewhat overpriced. Fine as daily-wearers, but very much "prepared" by a dealer, including polishing up the lugs, etc. Neither one has any accessories that I would consider valuable. Generic boxes and manuals can be purchased on eBay for less than $50. The first has some sort of receipt, but I don't know what it is. There are no Rolex-issued papers or warrantee card with either of them. The asking prices seem pretty high as well, although I guess that's expected for a dealer, although some dealers sell watches that have been serviced, and provide a warrantee. So that justifies some addition cost. I didn't see that in either of these listings, but maybe I missed it.

I would check sold listings on eBay using the advanced search feature. Don't add any value for the boxes and manuals.

Both over polished. There's a better example for sale on OF if you look in Private Watch Sales.

I did check previous eBay listings on the 16760 but there are only 2 both of which are in the US instead of the UK. The photos on the previous listings are not that great. One of them looks like the hands have been replaced.

I’m sure he is. It’s just personal preference I’m not a fan of the jubilee bracelet.

You will have to be patient if you want a full set, and keep in mind that none of the watches on this thread represent a full set. The key pieces (actually the only things with any value at all) are the parts that are specific to the watch, i.e. the warrantee card/papers and perhaps hang tags. The boxes and manuals are just generic ephemera, and I suspect that the dealer whose links you posted has a closet full of Rolex boxes and manuals that he uses to enhance his listings. In fact, I am extremely suspicious when someone sells boxes and manuals claiming that they are original, but not the warranty card, that seems unlikely to be legit.

You can always sell the jubilee bracelet and buy an oyster. Not suggesting that you do that in this case, but just something to keep in mind. The bracelets are generic. So if you find a watch you like otherwise, I wouldn't let the bracelet keep you from buying it.

Yes it is. By quite some distance I would say. You will be doing very well to get a full set for just over 6 grand. You will be looking at over 7 and over 8 for a later one.

I agree with the above. For my part, I like the first watch' dial, hands and insert. Both are grossly overpriced and polished. Stay away from dealers and be patient.

I’m in no rush to buy, the first one is advertised cheaper on his website at £7750, I reckon I can get it around £7500.

Being able to tell what is an over polished case is the thing I struggle with. I do like that dial and bezel though.

The other thing I liked is that he is reasonably local to me.
