Hi guys,
I have for sale a full set R series Rolex Explorer II ref.16550 "corn grain" in mint conditions, with an unpolished case and an incredible dial with pumpkin patina hour markers.

R serial number, circa 1987-88

The watch, that comes from the first owner, was sold at the historical Rolex authorized dealer 'Gioielleria Gioletta' in Alessandria (Italy) and it comes with an extreme full set that includes the original price tag with serial number.

The watch is original in every parts and runs well keeping good time.

This is an exquisite example of the transitional reference 16550: the dial is one of the earliest type of Polar (same you find on early reference 16570), the so called Polar "porcelain" dial (similar to R serial 16520), due to the eggshell effect under the sapphire crystal depending on the light and to the "tridimensional" look of writings, with the "corn grain" lume (in Italian "chicchi di mais"), nicknamed this way because in this specimen the tritium of the hour markers ages taking a yellow cream patina while hands usually remain white.

CASE:
The case is even and thick, unpolished in my opinion.
Serial and reference number are fully visible.
Original 16550 stamped caseback.

BEZEL :
Original Rolex bezel in mint conditions and has sharp black engraved numerals.

DIAL/HANDS:
The dial is an original Rolex 16550 tritium Polar "porcelain" dial, with a yellow patina even on all plots and all lettering is clearly visible and correct.
The hands are tritium and they are lighter than the hour markers (as it should be in the 90% of original "cream/ corn" 16550 and 16570 dial).
Tritium is original and was checked with UV light: both hands and hour markers react correctly in the same way.
Dial shows no chips around the rehault, no scratches, no "craquelê" or spots.

BRACELET:
The bracelet is the original 78360 with 501 endings unpolished in perfect conditions, with 13 links.
The clasp is original to the watch and the code (M) matches the serial number.

MOVEMENT:
Correct 3185 Rolex caliber running well.
The movement was serviced six years ago according to the previous owner.

SET:
The watch comes with the complete full set: original Rolex box (inner/outer), the Rolex warranty certificate, the Rolex warranty holder, the Rolex translation booklet, the Rolex calendar, the Rolex booklets ('Rolex Explorer' and 'Your Rolex Oyster'), the Rolex tag with serial number.

Asking 16500 Euro, insured shipping included.

Payment method - I will accept Paypal and bank wire.

Plenty of international references.
