Yea I don’t think they liked the 6000 meter ultra-deep making their COMEX related marketing around the DSSD look silly.

Thing is though, Omega still has the Ultra-Deep version that went to the bottom of the Marianas Trench, and it has a 25% safety margin built in, so it was built to 12,000 meters and tested to 15,000.

So if they really wanted to annoy Rolex like they’ve been doing a lot this year they could potentially just release that thick boy. Nobody would buy it but it undermines this piece lol.

With 29% market share vs. 7.5% for Omega, I don't think Rolex is too worried.

Yea not really sure how that impacts depth rating though…

Well they missed the Moon and Everest.

Maybe they could make one to explore the ancient ruins of a Rolex Boutique.
Send a few young explorers on a quest to find a Rolex for actual sale.

Wtf is RLX titanium?
Basically it’s just titanium with Rolex marketing dust sprinkled on it

Same as their mythical 904L steel that is just steel but with Rolex marketing dust sprinkled on

https://www.keepthetime.com/blog/316l-vs-904l-stainless-steel-in-watches/

Actually i could buy 1kg of 904L steel now for $1.70 (but would have to buy a fair bit more than 1kg) But basically a sheet thick enough for Rolex cases the size of a average flat screen television is about $200

My point wasn't about depth rating, it was about you thinking Omega annoys Rolex in any way.

60 years ago... Highest & deepest places on Earth...
BTW Swiss oceanographer Dr Jacques Piccard often wore two Rolex watches, one on each wrist, as seen in several 1959-1969 photographs.

I have no need to wear this watch. But I'm glad this exists. They didn't make this because they should, they made this because they can. And I love that.

Omega definitely annoys Rolex, I just don't think it's their style to show it.

Omega must have pissed off Rolex with the Ultra Deep.
At least the Ultra Deep is some what wearable. The 6000m rating was achieved by closely mirroring the Deep Sea Dweller dimensions.
The Deep Sea Challenge is an absolute joke.
They have now copied Omega with the titanium case and only achieved nearly double the depth rating of the Ultra Deep with a bloated case which is unwearable.
I guess the Rolex fanboys will still buy it but will they wear it in public?

Omega fanboys dissing on just about anything Rolex does. But I can relate. Boston Red Sox fans, of which I've been one for 60 years, hated the NY Yankees. While the Red Sox went 86 years without winning a championship, the Yankees won 26 times. Oh, we had all sorts of reasons for their success and why our team couldn't win the big one, but in the end, it was just jealousy.

Omega makes great watches; my Speedmaster is one I love and wear often. Rolex makes great watches also, I just don't get all the negative comments about them. Wait, maybe I do. 😗

If the Red Sox don't win, next best thing is watching the Yankees lose. Just the reality of life. 👍

I honestly can't see where Rolex has copied Omega except for the use of Titanium and that's where any similarity ends except for no date.
A few things to keep in mind.
The first decent to the bottom was in 1960(Rolex with a steel watch).
The second decent was in 2012(Rolex with a Steel watch).
A couple of key words like Ringlock and Glidelock come to mind which differentiate the Rolex in a profound manner from everything else.

Sure the first Titanium watch to the bottom was an Omega but I think the Rolex knocks the equivalent Omega out of the race for wearability at the deepest part of the ocean.

Perhaps, but one who knows they have a mental problem is probably ok if this is their only vice.
Nobody is talking about some kind of need.
