Had a chance to pick up a Zenith twotones years ago, before the insane Paul Neuman auction, for little to nothing. Keeping this.

The bezel really ruins it for me, that had it right in the past

That's a good looking watch; brushed finish and black bezel looks so sharp on these.

I was not into Rolex until the 16520 was seeing much demand in the last three years. This model is for me the last Daytona which can be called Vintage because of the tritium dial and hands.

So I decided to get me one 16520 Full set in great condition. And the Bonus of this U-Series is that the subdial Rings sometimes are going to turn dark Brown. I like that

I’m more of a fan of the 16520 over the newer model. Especially in white dial due to the black sub dials. The silver sub dials on the 116520 looks off to me every time I see pics of them. I never thought I would pick one up until late last year which cost me 3 watches to obtain, so now I am down to R brand watches.

The one thing I do wish is that the seconds hand was hack able. I discovered this after purchasing it. The 4130 does offer that feature which is a great feature for all of us OCD guys and gals out there.

...Back to original post... my thoughts? Daytona is one of the most pleasant watches to wear, I loved the one a sold and love the one I currently own. I will buy another variation eventually too.

Steel bezel for me . Not a fan of ceramic look
With that being said , they are not rare watches and the current price is ridiculous . The market is so inflated with all these hypes.
I have one and I’m happy to keep it for as long as I’m around

Had this Mk1 for over a decade. They are very well crafted, from the click of the clasp to the feel of the crowns. I did not like the polished surfaces so got the pcl and lugs brushed.

Wore it with abandon (both desk and ocean diving) and got a bunch of character on it.

Incredibly comfortable, and I find myself drawn to the design when I check the time, and forget that I was checking the time often.

Yes, they are quite busy, they are also deep, refined, and detailed. Like mughal architecture.

I've never known Daytonas going for little to nothing. I picked up my 116520 4 years ago for about half of what it's going for now, bonkers. Great investment though, shoulda got a few more ha.

I've always loved the Daytona, superb piece, awesome history, wears like a charm. Best watch I've owned.

In my opinion the 116520 is the nicest of all modern Daytonas. Love mine. The 116500 looks unbelievable cheap next to it, so I dont like the look of it at all. But thats just my 2 cents.

I love the ceramic Daytona. However, I think you're right about the white 500c looking cheapish in person. The black ceramic bezel actually looks like a piece of plastic without metallic edges. This is why I prefer the black 500c. Black on black looks more luxurious, less like a toy. Interestingly, the white 500c is super photogenic and most people buy one from a picture without seeing it person first. But when people had a chance to see a white next to a black Daytona at an AD, they would usually choose the black. The black was more popular at the beginning before the internet hype started.
Agree for the most part. The white tends to have a slightly higher price and does look better in pics, but the black on black in person really looks sharp, like it means business for the task at hand. The white gets the current hype and a lot of people follow what the 'influencers' say, but no one knows what the future holds when the hype eventually dies down. It may well be the black is the one sought out and valued higher. It's all a crapshoot which is why you should buy what you like and not listen to internet chatter.

i own both. . probably got "sold" on the white by people telling me it was great, ultimately bought the black and i have to say if i had to guess which one sticks for the long term it might be the black. especially since my vintage daytonas are all silver/lighter. for now enjoying both however

I really like the look of the Daytona's but am always find it hard to actually tell the time as the hands seem to blend into the face. It could just be my eyesight of course 😀
