So I recently saw that Rolex has released a white gold ceramic daytona. Awesome looking watch but are they only going to sell it on the oysterflex band or can you opt for the traditional oyster band?

I am 100% positive that Rolex will sell you the gold bracelet from the non ceramic version at a completely affordable price.

The bigger question is if they will offer this with steel endlinks for the more plebeian Daytona owners.

I'm not sure if a bracelet would fit, I don't think the models that come on bands can be fit with bracelets. People have been retro-fitting the dials for WG daytonas to steel ones for years, i think the way to go is to get a steel version and pop that new silver reverse-panda dial on it. Maybe in a year or 2

Afaik the new ceramic bezel is the only difference from last years gold Daytona case wise. It's the same case so why not swap on the bracelet which you can purchase through any dealer?

Unless the lug holes are moved towards the case for the end links on the new one but that would cause issues putting straps on the watch which I doubt Rolex would do.

That's a 7 year old post and the old Daytona in a different case.

I think the springbar attaches to the rubber part not the endlinks. If you look at the on wrist shots the pivot point looks like the same springbar location as the bracelet.

The cases are different, very different. They don't fit, 100%. I'm sure you can machine something to get a bracelet to fit, if you want to do that.

The best first hand information that I could find on the new PM oysterflex Daytonas is from ablogtowatch article on their impressions. Relevant quote below:

"One thing to note about the implementation of the Oysterflex strap is that unlike the Yacht-Master, the Rolex Daytona watches will come with special end links so that there isn’t an unsightly gap between the strap and the case."

I'm unsure of the impact on moving the case onto the traditional bracelet.

Of bigger note to me is the price tag they're slapping on these. $28.8k USD for the WG version? Very good looking watch but holy hell that's not worth it to me. Same 4130 movement as all the others except this time you don't get a PM bracelet and instead rubber...

That's what I found also. I really think the springbar goes through the rubber part based on on wrist shots with small wrists. I just don't see Rolex doing a different springbar location for this one.

@Cad290 i see your point, so I guess there is no way to know yet until someone tries or asks Rolex.

I agree, and it's an expensive experiment

Don't bother experimenting, a strap version with not fit to a bracelet version Daytona case. The end links are permanent to the case and as stated, the holes are positioned to keep it from happening.

Yea it seems rather intentional too in order to preserve the premium that comes with the bracelet version. I've seen a pre ceramic WG on strap and there is literally nothing you could do to fit a bracelet on it, it's almost like it was designed to be tamper proof.

this. it wont fit. the endlinks connect to the case under the bezel. that being said, hopefully these will lower the demand of the SS DaytonaC slightly.

The white gold ceramic daytona would look like the Paul Newman daytona in the light...

Except no outer track, no Art Deco subdial plots, and the presence of inner rings on the subdials.

A Panda Daytona with a black bezel is not a Newman. You need to have what's called an Exotic or Art Deco dial. To be a Newman.
