Rolex 6098/6298 “Explorer” Dial

Hi all,

I recently was at an estate sale for a retired watchmaker. I got a bunch of goodies but I was particularly interested in a Rolex dial which displayed the word “explorer” on it.

I have seen Ref. 6298 dials with similar writing but have not been able to find an exact match in style. Was questioning the authenticity myself but figured I would give the forum here a shot.


Disclaimer: I am not attempting to sell the dial, just to understand if this an authentic find and/or different dial configuration.
