Hey guys,
I have a question about my 5513 maxi 1 here. I have had this watch for a few years now. I realized that my minute hand is getting crusty/rusty. I was wondering if there is anything i can do to curb this effect or should i invest in a new set of hands for the future?

I apologize the picture is kind of shitty. But i hope that you are able to zoom in on it.

Thanks for your time 😀

Obviously you want to avoid replacing original parts if possible, so maybe you should have the watch serviced and the seals replaced to guard against the intrusion of moisture. Some signs of aging are inevitable and hopefully you can just live with it.

A: Have your 5513 routinely checked for water resistance. Have the seals changed yearly, especially if you wear it diving. Always remember to screw down the winding crown! If you do the above you'll be fine. Still, there's no harm in picking up a good handset if you want to (but you don't need to make it a priority).

Is that a mk1? Do you have a clearer pic of the dial?

The slight degradation is very normal. I would leave them, its all part of the vintage vibe.
Sometimes it can be attractive as below on a 5513 gilt, the hands have almost a glitter effect ( crusty is probably more accurate)
