I was offered for consideration this 1983 model Rolex Submariner 5513 with complete box and papers. Is the price of $8.5k a bit on the high side? I have seen the watch and it is in very good condition.

Fair bit of money for an 80s era 5513

Seems like a fair price to me. Maybe closer to 8 would feel good. Unfortunately has a service bezel, but that can be fixed easily.

I was thinking of offering $7k and see how much he will counter.

This one is a MKV , little bit rarer than MKIV...and produced only for a short period or time. Good luck with the offer !

7k seems right for this watch. Almost unpolished it looks great!

Just something that makes me suspicious is the fact that if it's a service bezel how come the insert marker has matching patina? It just makes me wonder whether the dial is refinished to look that way. Or conversely the little pearl.

7k with box and papers is a fair price.
I would just check serial number isn't higher than 8.4 millions.

These have taken a bump recently and box and papers are very high if all else is correct. 9-10 ask for a 100% correct example.
I had a 8.2 and sold for 8K so that's within last month. With correct insert. Luck
