Hello all thanks for the input on my previous purchase. Now the same seller of my 1680 has 16800 for sales. As usual I’m very tempted by it. But this time i learned my lesson. I’m posting here and hopefully can get great inputs from all the bros and pros here. Many thanks in advance. Pls kindly also indicate a fair price u think this piece is worth. Thanks all!
Winner winner, I'd say if the price is fair with the current market then pull the trigger. I'd check chrono24 and search on watchrecon to look at comps. Patina is nice, case is strong, bracelet clasp logo is strong... Go for it!
Ebay are making regular sell for a £1 offers to sellers. This means maximum fee payable is just a £1 so deducting 10% may not be applicable. However Paypal fees remain the same. Looks to be a nice 16800.
Someone is selling/sold a similar piece. Not sure what's the price. U can check that. Also u can Google watchrecon and check the model number in there to check sold prices. Some are dealer prices some are collector prices.
Does the clasp code match the serial number of the watch? Always nice to know your buying complete watch and not just the head with a bracelet chucked in. Head does look really nice though from my untrained eyes. Regards
Does look like a nice unpolished case - did you buy it? Here is my unpolished matt dial 16800 for comparison.....
Ive seen 80's gloss dial 16800's go from 6500 to 8000. That price is in the upper range but it is a nice example, with good looking patina. I think lower priced examples usually had something replaced, service bezel etc.
In the absence of verifiable, reported, service history ?…As a buyer…I would be happier with $500 less than $7575 Case looks strong…It certainly has potential
Yes, anywhere between 6200 and 8 depending on box, papers, service history etc. Buy wherever you land in that range the seller is not being abusive on his price. To be really thorough see if you can match bracelet and movement to the serial/ dates, see if you can account for price against service like Icono suggests and look around to see what the market offers on similar items are. This is still a very good example though
Looks like a strong example to me. Can't comment on the price though but it seems as others suggest that it could be within reasonable range.
Service history for anything Rolex is a big deal IMO. Many watches have been serviced with aftermarket parts which make such a watch a no go, especially if you bring it into Rolex for a service. They will not touch such a watch. Better a watch that has never been serviced than one "serviced" with aftermarket parts.
