So, up for sale is my 1950s Rolex 1003. It must go to fund another little thing. It hasn’t been serviced while in my possession, but it’s keeping good time. I definitely recommend a visit to your watchmaker if you plan to wear this on a regular basis. Case: SS, overall in good condition and 14k gold bezel. ~34.5mm. Crystal: Good condition, but I believe it’s an aftermarket crystal. Dial:Original, overall good condition – I know very little about Rolex and I am not sure this is the correct dial for this model. It might be a replacement dial. Crown:Signed, 14k gold. Hands:The blue steel seconds hand is pure love. Bracelet:VERY nice rivet Gay & Frères bracelet which will fit a 20cm wrist. It’s in fairly decent condition but the links are a bit stretched as it is usual with rivet bracelets. Price: NOW USD 1850 / £ 1275 / EUR 1790 USD 2000/£1350/EUR1900 and shipping via tracked/insured EMS is on me, OBRO. PayPal is just fine if you are a verified user. Bank wire is also accepted. I will ship this watch to the US, Western Europe, Australia, Singapore, HK, Japan via EMS (tracked, usually 5-7 days to most places). I've sold some watches to other OF members and if you need any more pictures or any more info, just ask.
Tom, Would you then say the dial was changed? I double-checked the reference and the case does say 1003. Thanks for the help! Best, Paulo
I would have to say so, Paolo. The Zephyr has a few specific references but was not produced under ref. 1003, although the case is the same size for both. Also, this bezel is correct for a 1003 (engine turned) but not for the unique sort of "indices" style of the Zephyr. That said the dial is definitely factory original and makes it more interesting than the average OP. Best of luck, T.
bump AND a bonus: If you get this, I'll throw in a Rolex buckle if you want to wear it on a leather strap (which I do, I find it way more comforable than the bracelet).
Adam, I first thought as much when I read Tom's comment but I double-checked and it says "1003"; plus, there's the bezel. I just think someone decided to replace the dial some years ago...
