Yes. This watch is identical to the Roamer Rotopower 44 jewel (no date) 436 movement 1964-6. It’s been rebranded as a Stingray otherwise no change in appearance .

My point is often high jewel counts watches have an absurd amount of jewels for the date wheel. High jewel counts and no date wheel is not exactly normal.

Yet they are all functional jewels unlike some brands of the time entering into Jewel Wars.

Your purchase appears to be a ‘pre Stingray’ model 64/65. Should be a 437. Great watch. Apparently every part down to the screws were made in house. Almost certainly sold at a loss hence the slimming down in the 70s. It’s odd that the Stingray S command such high prices around £800+ in uk, but that these fantastic watches can be picked up so cheap.

These are appearing far less frequently than they used to on our local auction sites, may have to resort to fleabay for any more 44's.

Stingrays, Mustangs and Rockshells are getting ridiculous prices these days compared to just 2 or 3 years ago. What always amazes me is that the plain standard watches with 44 jewels ie not Mustangs Stingrays and Rockshells sell for so little in comparison, its just lucky I prefer the plainer uncluttered style. 😁

There are certainly a lot less around. A recent watch auction had a few but batched up with other watches. The Rockshell is less appealing to me as has the standard screw back as opposed to Roamer patented. Totally agree that the pre Stingray 44 are an amazing buy if you can find one. Identical to my 44 jewel minus Stingray name.
A lot of dubious Roamers in auction , usually with RW at the top. Can be Indian renovated fronts , at worst cheap Chinese movements,

Congrats on the first Roamer, they are definitely neat little pieces. For me a Roamer was my first vintage mechanical. I remember buying several off Ebay from Romania or something a few years back.

Does anyone have any resources on Roamer? I've never been able to find one that looks like mine. And given what it cost (maybe $150) I can't see how it would be worth the time for it to be a franken, but I guess you never know.

Other than this http://roamer-watches.info/ there a couple of other sites.

Usually the bodged ones have the RW logo and are garish. Yours looks fine. I would guess 50s. Maybe if you looked at the movement may be bought in, Felsa perhaps.

My guess is that it is a MST372 1944 onwards

A new MST437 44 Rotodate to my collection just back from a service but will need a new lens.

Just also found a very striking sterile dial Roamer MST 372 watch in the weekend but no photos at this stage as its at my WM getting a service and lens change, was very surprised when I popped the back off and found I had lucked on another very beautiful Roamer.

A while since I updated this thread.

Several more Roamer 44's have made their way into my collection since I last posted and today I learned something new!

I had not realised that Roamer lenses are marked in the same way that Omegas ones are with a logo inscribed at the centre.

Only just noticed this as this latest watch had a new original Roamer lens just fitted with its service and viewing it at an oblique angle in my watch box I thought I saw a fault in the centre of the lens however with my smartphone camera on macro it soon became evident that it was a Roamer logo.

A more detailed inspection of my other Roamer watches showed this to be the norm for all of the ones in my collection, ya learn something new everyday!

Another thing that intrigues me is that of all my Roamer watches of that period is that I have no 2 alike dials, they are all different.

Anyway here is my new to me dateles Roamer 44.

Some really nice Roamer 44's in this tread - and they are still around - amazing what you can still find - this one was a 100€ delivered to my door 😁. This one intrieges me - haven't had it opened yet, but it could be the 436 - the first of the 44 jewel models - and i especially like the clean look of the no date versions. It seems that there is a little corrosion on the hands - will have to look at it once it needs a service - other than that, it will enter right in to cirkulation 😀 - next to my current favorite - a plain stingray 44, with the MST 470 movement

Congrats on some great finds there @ Oldanalog .
The non-date MST 436 movements are much harder to find than the date 437s.
I only have one 436 but about 3 of the 437s in my collection but would like to find some more :0)
It`s difficult to even seen the r logo on the crystal let alone get a good picture of it like you did.
I think the logo crystals came in around the mid 190`s so you tend to see them more on the 470/471 movements than the 436/7s
