Restoring luminous material on Omega Seamaster Professional 300m

Hi,

I am new here so please forgive me if I will do something incorrectly.

Recently I bought Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer 300m through chrono24. The watch was originally bought in 06/2000. I discover that luminous material is missing in one place on the dial or turn black (9 position) and rest of them practically are not glowing any more.

Any idea how much would cost me to restore that luminous material on the dial and watch bazel?
Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated 😀 (UK)

Thank you.

Kind regards,

It has an original tritium lume dial which is no longer glowing. The hands have been replaced at some point by those with Superluminova lume. You can get a replacement dial with SL lume which will glow but its not cheap. Think maybe £150 for the part and then you need to pay for fitting. The watch will have been manufactured prior to 1998, that is when the transition to SL lume was completed.

The only place realistically is an authorised repairer with a parts account or an official Omega repair centre. It won’t be cheap to buy and fit as I say.

Why not just a very well done relume? there is a guy in UK who does great job on reluming dial ( so good that i'm thinking to ship my dial from here while i'm looking a perfect dial)

Any more details? You have my full attention Mancio 😀
Here we go

I spoke with him and price are certainly reasonable (but i guess each watch is different), plus you are in UK so it should be easier.
I'm pretty sure you can search for him on the forum and see other opinions.

Cheers 😀

I'd be interested to know what the cost of having a really good relume done is compared to a service dial with superluminova. Given that in both cases the dials will have to be removed and reinstated, a direct comparison would be the relumers time and materials -v- the cost of the service dial.

In the present instance, replacement with a service dial will also mean that the 5 minute markers on the rehaut will be red rather than the faded colour of the OP's. Then maybe you start to think that the faded red hands no longer match and off down the moneypit you go......😒

Well i guess it depends who does the job and where.
I can tell you that a service that relumes dial here in US asked me so much money that i could have bought a vintage dial for my speedy instead of relume it. In UK, i doubt that what James asked me could match the cost of a new service dial (which would not have any patina)

The watch was restored and it looks beautiful😀. I also replaced chronograph hands.

It was done by Arnold from London (https://www.watchserviceuk.com). Full service cost me £240 including dial re-lumination so I think it was really good price. I paid extra for chronograph hands.

I hope he will help many of you in the future.

Hi, the watch looks great. Did they do a case polish as well?

Looks splendid. Did you replace or repaint the subdial hands?

Did you have a choice on the colour of the relume? That new SL looks greenish (in daylight), the same as the new Omega stuff. Personally, I think pure white would look better, and wonder if this stuff just only comes in green tint.

You can get pure white SL. It comes in many different shades but the colour with the highest luminescence is the yellow/green shade Omega use. Hers an example of whiter lume (RHS) next to the std yellow/green:
