Hey everyone! So several months ago I posted here asking if anyone could identify my old Omega. Well I just got it back yesterday with a new crystal and a complete movement, so figured I'd update you Omega lovers. I am not interested in selling it, but does anyone knows what its worth? I'm curious about the value. Some information: Movement: Cal. 26.5ST2 Movement Serial Number: 8,887,762 Case Size: 38mm - JUMBO for its time Lug to Lug Width: 20mm Year: Serial number places it between 1935 and 1939. I think its from around 1938 Case Number: 9707079 What was done: -New Crystal -Complete movement overhaul -All parts original (except the crystal and new mainspring) -Case was not polished -Dial was not touched I received it with a stretchy band on it...I will be putting a nice black or brown leather band on it! BEFORE and AFTER BEFORE photos: AFTER photos: Original post / changed my user name: https://omegaforums.net/threads/can-anyone-identify-this-old-omega-watch.44481/
Cool watch. Maybe 1-2k depending on whether you find an excited buyer and movement condition. Dial's character bordering on extreme wear.
thats kind of what I figured, maybe $1,500. The watchmaker said another customer of his saw this watch and offered to buy it, but he didnt say what he offered lol the exact same watch was listed for $9.5k on the sales section of these forums and sold, but of course the dial was in better condition
If your dial was mint it would sell for maybe 10x Also, just because a watch is listed at a certain price doesn't mean it didn't sell well under.
naturally, but I cant imagine the wiggle room on a $9.5k listing price would be more than say $2-4k, which is a conservative guess, and still worth much more than my watch.
A lovely thing, I'm in agreement with the valuations, mint dial would make all the difference but yours is a beauty so wear in good health and enjoy
The dial is the most interesting aspect of the watch, IMO and therefore the major determining factor of value. I would remove the bracelet and replace with a nice leather strap. Some of these bracelets had spring loaded endlinks that would dig into the watches lugs.
I would recommend taking it off that band as soon as possible. They are known to scratch up the lugs.
I have no clue what its worth so I'm not sure. With proper spring bars it would not chew up the holes The band has already been removed when I posted this. Its only on the watch in the pics because thats how I got the watch, so thats also how I gave it to the watchmaker. Looks better in pics than just taking pictures of the dial IMO. Thanks everyone for your replies and insights
My apologies for being obtuse, I was having a joke. Like most collectors, I seem to end up with dozens of these as they are mostly unwanted nowdays. If only there was a market for them, I'd be rich .
