@Fost needed an oversized tre tacche case and movement...there was a redial I knew of locally, at, wait for it, a pawn shop. I had been eyeing it awhile, and now had an excuse to buy, so I went in and snapped it up. It won't work for him, and after a couple of days on the wrist, I am seriously liking this watch and trying to figure the options for restoration to bring it back to its original glory (hence the edited title and post). I have a few questions, and would appreciate any insight. 1. Is the dial from a 33mm sei tacche with a 12.68z the same size as my 35.5mm? 2. Who would you recommend to use as a redialer? 3. How do you measure for hands, and can hands be adapted to fit a 12.68z? Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Again, thanks for your help it is really appreciated. Now about this case I have no idea what it is... What bother me is the groove on the step and the thin step. Just a picture of mine for comparison
It could be good... Searching on the net I see several type of case... This one looks as thin as yours... Hope expert can join this very interesting discussion...
Hi @watchknut I like it as found... dibs .... no joke. So if you run out of steam on a project .. let me know Good Hunting Bill
After wearing it for a couple of days, I can see why people go nuts for these watches. I changed the title and edited the post, as I could use some tips on the best course of action for a restoration.
It's a HUGE improvement. But what did you do with the original crown AND correct subseconds hand you had in the first picture? Don't throw the baby with the bath water !!
I already put it down the disposal...it was old... Just kidding! It will go back on with the original movement once I have everything swapped over.
I hear you...fun hunting for parts. I lucked into a few key on this donor watch, mainly the handset, decent looking redial, and a serviced movement. Loads better than the poor excuse for a 3t that it was before.
are the seams on the backside of the lugs normal? I've seen tre/sei tacches with no seams, 1 seam, and seams on all lugs like this one.
