Hi guys, looking to buy my first vintage watch. I've been reading up for months on different types but feel I want to start off with something nice and later move up to a tri-compax. so are there any resources like a chronology of different UGs. i like the look of this one but I'm guessing it's a fake because the hands (I can't find anything like them in my searches) and it's a black dial (Someone said many are faked). The numerals font I haven't really seen either but I really like it - any comments on this? i have asked for pics of the movement. should I steer clear or is this an ok watch to start with? assuming the most looks ok?
my eyes are tearing looking at that tiny l'il picture. The dial is not original. That established, it is not really worth the effort of further examination.
Welcome mate. I, like you, am new here too. The guys on here are awesome and very knowledgable! I also recommend purchasing Sala's book. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261598718216?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network it's expensive but it's got loads of useful info in it. Happy hunting.
Thanks guys... Yes I was expecting recommendations for that book -it may be expensive but I expect if someone is going to spend 20x on a UG it's smart. That and reading up in here
