[RESOLVED] Brand new Omega has a very unpleasant metallic odour from the bracelet.

The smell sounds similar to machine oil residue from manufacturing.
Glad it all turned out well in the end. Watch look great 馃榾

Hope the AD included a free bottle of Febreze for the inconvenience!

EDIT: I've picked up the watch. This one has wayyyyy less marks and imperfections. Bezel has a nice tight action with no play. The clasp is nice and tight. Spring bars feel solid. It feels a lot newer than the first one they sold me. Most importantly, this one doesn't have a lingering metallic odour that the first one does.

The above implies there were still some marks and imperfections, was that the case? If so, why settle for that on what should be a brand new watch? Just curious.

The only time I would accept a new watch that wasn't pristine to my natural eye would be if it came with a suitable discount to reflect that.

Glad it was taken care of to your satisfaction. I'd like to buy a new watch this year and am hoping it goes smoothly.

It was 99% pristine to my natural eye, but I鈥檓 really fussy and I find faults when I look really close anyway. I鈥檝e bought a few Omegas since 2019 and they don鈥檛 come out of the box 100% perfect. Maybe it鈥檚 a QC thing? Maybe I鈥檓 just obsessive. I got a 16% discount so I wanted to stick it out with this AD. Another AD I have a relationship with offered me 7% for the same watch so it was enough of a saving for me to make it work somehow.

Glad it was taken care of to your satisfaction. I'd like to buy a new watch this year and am hoping it goes smoothly.

Thank you! I鈥檓 loving it so far. Hope it goes well for you. What reference you looking at?

On the rubber strap, its looking like the best of the bunch (tied in first place with the white one). It looks epic. Also love that they dropped the red tip on the seconds hand and the red Seamaster logo. With everything white it looks really clean against the green.

Straps don't usually fit my wrist out of the box and I'd probably want the bracelet at some point so I plan to get it on the bracelet. I agree that the all white detail really works. I haven't seen it in person but my "local" AD has one on order for me to look at when they get it with no obligation to purchase. They told me it's the most requested of the 2022 for them so far; eight on order.

If you buy new there should be no marks and no imperfections - it should be immaculate/perfect.
Maybe they sent the the watch you bought back to be refinished and had the bracelet wizzed through the cleaner.

Nice to hear a positive outcome.

I bet the new watch tastes way better as well.
