Replacing hands between different movements...

Please forgive the cluelessness of the question below...

I have the opportunity to acquire an incomplete Wittnauer 242T project watch which has missing parts (hands, pushers and crown). The movement is a Val 72 and aside from the rather essential missing parts should be working (So I am told).

I have a Wittnauer 7004a which has the correct hands and could be a donor watch but it has a Landeron 248 movement inside. As luck would have it I also have a spare set of 7004a (arrow type) hands which would probably fit the donor watch.

Would this hand transplant exercise work? Or would the different movements kill this idea?

Thanks in advance for all the collective wisdom!

According to Ranfft, the hand sizes are:

    L248
    1.85 x 1.30 x 0.25 / 0.27 x 0.20 mm

    V72
    1.60 x 1.30 x 0.25 / 0.28 x 0.25 mm

So I guess the answer is that the hands from the Landeron will not fit the posts of the Valjoux.

Ahh thanks for that. Very helpful. Totally forgot about this site.

Sigh. I guess my dream of a 242t will have to wait ...
