Hi
Damaged leather strap as per photo. I don’t think a leather strap can be repaired can it ? Any idea the best place to get a replacement please ?
Thanks and appreciate any help

Go to any OB, they may have it in stock & can order for you if they don’t. An AD is less likely to have it stock, but can also order. That mark doesn’t look bad, a bit of wear on leather is normal.

Why repair it even if you could? Leather is supposed to age (and look good while doing it) over time. For OEM, grab it from Omega or any decent AD. For third party, loads to choose from online. Looks like tang and buckle which means a lot more (cheaper) options versus deployant.

You might try massaging some leather conditioner/cleaner into the damaged area. While it won't "heal" the damaged spot, it could blend the color so it's not as noticeable.

There is a cornucopia of aftermarket straps that can be custom ordered with a few clicks. OEM is fine if that is what you want but unless it is something model specific, like a black yellow Apollo 8, I go aftermarket. Back in th 80's and 90's the selection was very slim, you were dependent on what your local jeweler would have. Huge improvement now.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that strap. People pay good money for distressed leather. Leather tells a story by its scars, marks and tattoos.

That's just good livin'.

Get some Fiebings Leather Lotion or perhaps Meltonian neutral cream first. That strap doesn't look horrible to me.

Hi,
I 'm just into this as i will soon receive a brand new FOIS and want to preserve the OEM strap and keep it unworn.
I didn't do so with my CK2998 five yrs ago and now i will have to change it too.

I've read here and ther that the Rios Pensa strap is the closer look to the original FOIS bracelet, and costs a few tens of € only, compared to a few hundreds for the Oega strap.

If you want Omega, you can have a look there : https://www.watchobsession.co.uk/products/omega-98000409l-calfskin-leather-watch-strap-in-mid-brown

It looks to be the same strap code as on the FOIS ? - but grain seem to be different

Rios straps have arrived. The blue one is already installed on the CK2998.
i look forward to receive my FOIS later this week to install the brown one.

The blue is not as dark as the original one but it’s still a perfect fit on the CK2998

Saphir medium brown polish will definitely fix that. I’ve done it before. No need for a new one. Will be great for your shoes too. A bit pricey but well worth it.

@arno , that looks really good. I'm a strap fan too, and have gone crazy buying alligator, shark, and stingray among others. Online there are thousands of varieties.

Thanks @High Hope

This is not guenuine alligator but alligator grain on cow. But i’m fine as it’s just around 15% the price of a guenuine omega strap. And we will see, but i think it will last as long ...

I say leave the strap as is. Leather develops nicks and patina over time, so that is not worth replacing IMO. If it bothers you enough, why not try out a different aftermarket strap or bracelet?

Received the FOIS this morning ::psy::::psy:: and immediately installed the Rios Pensa Mokka.
Maybe i should have bought the Cognac color instead, would have been closer to the original...

Take strap off watch, spit on it and rub either with fingers or with cotton fabric (against jeans for example). Rubbing should be intense enough to release heat. I don't thing shoe polish is good idea, it will do no harm, but won't help much either. leather balm or conditioner is better idea after you finished rubbing, but it is really not necessary.

OP, I'm with the group that says it's fine, just use some polish or conditioner, and keep on enjoying it.

Why save it for the next guy? Wear it and enjoy it.

True this is, but in the unlikely event i will resell it later, that would be a plus.
This came to my mind when i saw the cost orf a replacment Omega alligator strap for my CK2998 ... but FOIS is not alligator so yeah, maybe i'll put it back later on the Omega 'barenia' strap (let's call it like this)

Check out this video. Dude planned to use polish but the conditioner worked like a charm.
