I'm sure the watchmaker you used has returned the old parts (crown and stem).
If not, you should demand their return.

Once we know what the situation is we can advise further.

In my opinion, it is normal practice that a repairer of whatever, car, or watch or... is supposed to give back the parts replaced: firstly because it is yours, secondly because it is a proof that the job has been done. It is interesting to note for example that a,n official manufacturer's service always send the parts replaced together with the watch. This is what everybody should expect.
Last week, I got my Connie back from service, the watchmaker showed me the seal that was completely worn out, and only then did we scrap it.

Not all manufacturers, unfortunately. Some (notably Rolex) provide certain new parts only under the condition that the old parts are exchanged.

There are quite a few brands that do not return parts to the customer.

The argument for this, as I understand it, is the ‘risk’ that the used components will be sold on and used outside of the authorised service network.

Spare parts from certain brands, even worn ones, can command high prices on eBay or Chrono24.
