Looking at a Maison Fondee. Is it possible to swap the bracelet for a leather strap? I know this is a funky watch and borderline vintage. Daughter is looking for a sub $1000 cool watch for fiancee

I think this is a rather pretty looking watch. I would not expect to that that, but I do!
So I have been repairing watches and put out feelers/trade watches I'm done with, and have an incoming. Typically I wouldn't want an Omega this recent, but it is actually just a rebadged ETA movement (so parts should hopefully be easy!). Also, this one is seemingly in decent shape with a 2 tone bracelet.
Sold to me as "doesn't work, has a rusty stem", but I'm getting it for a pretty good value, so I'm OK with cat-in-the-bag. Should be a fun project anyway 😀
BUT the most interesting thing? The 166.0285 was advertised as a "Speedmaster". Not a chrono? Not a problem to Omega's...
It looks like a Seamaster 120m variant from the 1990s so fitting a strap should be a piece of cake. The bezel and possibly crown are probably solid gold. Will be around 35mm only though so not massive. As above, some of this case number were weirdly branded as a Speedmaster but not I suspect here where MF was used instead.
