SEIKO OLYMPIC 1964 ONE-PUSH CHRONOGRAPH REF: 5719-8980

DIAL: Silver lacquered sunburst Seiko-signed dial with polished baguette markers and dolphin hands with original lume in excellent condition. Date aperture at three o’clock
The lugs are long and tapered with a clean bevel along the outer edge.

CASE: Unpolished sharp stainless-steel case measuring 38mm (41mm w/crown) x 44.5mm.

CASE BACK: With the lovely Seiko seahorse logo still present on case back.
There are 2 tiny cracks along the edge of the case.

BEZEL:
Rare 1st execution black plastic bezel sits prominently over top with a staggered knurling along the edge, and white inlay in the engraved markings is in great condition.

BAND: Brown Horween leather strap

CRYSTAL: Clean unscratched domed acrylic crystal in excellent condition – no scratches or blemishes.

MOVEMENT: FRESHLY SERVISED this October October- Inhouse Seiko 5719 21-jewel manual-wind
18,000 BPH.
All functions work as they should.

The Seiko Monopusher 5719-8980 was Seikos first Chronograph, a special piece of the Seiko legacy as it was created to celebrate the 1964 summer Olympics that would be hosted in Japan, also known as the 'Games of the XVIII Olympiad'.
This specific chronograph hosts a 60-second timer and the pusher can be used to start, stop, and reset the chronograph feature.

I think the idea was that you set the bezel to the minute hand when you start timing, so you can time up to sixty minutes.

Exactly, A bit more complicated than your average stopwatch but yes the bezel and the minute timer were use together to time anything longer than 60 seconds. Unlike 2 button Chronographs, the mono pusher only has one button to start, stop and reset.

The Seiko Mono Pusher Chronograph is a special piece of the Seiko legacy.
Designed alongside the Seiko World Time, both were created to celebrate and assist in the 1964 summer Olympics that would be hosted in Japan, also known as the 'Games of the XVIII Olympiad'.
This specific chronograph hosts a 60-second timer and the pusher can be used to start, stop, and reset the chronograph feature.
The ref. 5717-8990 also features a date wheel, which was not present in the first 45899 Mono Pusher model.

I only bumped once today. only the Seiko mono pusher was bumped. I did make changes to titles and added photos but nothing else.
By the way is there any chance you can help with two listings I can’t seem to find. I listed two watches for sale which of disappeared.
