For sale is my much beloved and only Pre-Pro Speedmaster, a 105.002-62 with baton hands. This watch was bought in as-found “out of the drawer” condition by me from the original owner several years ago and was expertly serviced by Stefan in the UK in 2014 before being shipped to me. It has had probably 30 days of careful wear since then and has spent most of that time in the vault. I tend to be attracted to these more interesting transitional or in-between models and so when I wanted something pre-pro this was somewhat of a no brainer as the 105.002 is is effectively the bridge between the CK2998-62 (in fact it effectively is a re-numbered 2998-62) and the 105.003, possessing 2998 parts and features such as the silver reflective chapter ring and marking the first use of the now familiar baton or stick hands that were used on the 105.003 and 105.012. I’m not super keen to be selling this one or any of the others I’ll be listing in coming weeks but I have a major purchase of great sentimental value to me and my family that I’m needing to fund so several of my favourites are going to have to go on the chopping block including this ‘002. Asking price is 23.5K USD or best reasonable offer shipped.
Hi My personal favourite ( real world ) Speedmaster reference....if only it was the Alpha hand GLWTS - Best - Neil
Bracelet is the original 7902 and number 6 endlinks it came from the owner with, I bought a second 7902 then for it to add some additional links to it as I have a large wrist, stretch links are tight and I don’t mind including the second bracelet with it also. Incidentally this watch was bought for relatively little back when DON bezels and No.6 endlinks we’re still cheap and has never been owned by a dealer to be swapped and altered for a better look, which is one of the reasons I’ll miss it so much as it came with the parts you are here.
Is it the same one mentioned in this story - https://www.fratellowatches.com/speedy-tuesday-omega-speedmaster-105-002/ ? Fantastic example - GLWTS !
It is indeed, and you'll see the original pics from when it was bought in that article, wearing the same bezel, bracelet, endlinks etc and condition prior to service.
Beautiful watch. A very 'eye catching' example. Good luck with the sale and congratulations to the buyer.
The Fratello article came out prior to MWO being released and the lack of Ts on the dial had me convinced it was radium at the time but since then we've seen from the book that this A6 high swiss dial used on 105.002 and 105.003-63s had no Ts on the dial but is tritium, like much of this watch its a transitional year between the old 2998 and new 105.003 and as such shares some traits of both old and new from that era.
