Hello all. I have recently listed a few watches from the collection. It is tough to see them go but I have a new car purchase coming up and need to free up some cash. Next up is a very nice early Omega Seamaster 2493-2. My favorite aspect about this watch is its large size at 37mm and nearly flawless dial with “art deco” painted gold numerals. Case: Rose gold plated 80 micron thickness. This watch has been polished in the past with wear to the lugs, as seen in the photos. There are minor nicks and dings to the side lugs, which I have also photographed. Case measures 37 mm without crown and large 46 mm lug to lug. Crown: Replacement crown. Gold tone and style matches the case nicely. Caseback: Great condition screw down caseback. Since this is an early Seamaster, the back does not have the Seamaster logo, which is correct. Inside is marked “2493-2” with multiple watchmaker service marks. Movement: Bumper movement cal 332. 12.2 mil serial dates this to around 1950. This watch was not serviced in my possession and is gaining a minute or so of time over 24 hours. If you intend on wearing it daily, a service is recommended. Dial: The best aspect of this watch. Original unrestored dial in excellent overall condition. It has developed an even cream patina and appears two-tone in certain light settings. Dial is domed with long rose gold indices and painted art deco style numbers at 12-3-6-9. All lume plots are intact and have developed a cream patina as well. Small subdial at 6 o’clock. Seamaster is on the dial, which was uncommon for the early Seamasters. Hands: Original with all lume intact. They have developed a cream patina which matches the dial indices perfectly. Crystal: Unmarked crystal. Strap: Nice quality brown leather strap made by Kitz France, embossed in Alligator pattern. There are not many prior sales of this reference for comparison and Chrono24 has only a few near the $2k mark, which is likely too much. Given the dial condition, early Seamaster bumper reference, and size, I am asking $700 . The sale will include shipping in the USA. Happy to accept bank wire, Venmo, Paypal Friends and Family. International deals will ship at cost to buyer. TransferWise works nicely for international deals. Returns if watch is grossly misrepresented. I have had transactions on this forum with reviews posted in the Seller Profile section.
I can't even remember the last time I saw a jumbo seamaster from the early 1950s. Such wrist presence for the time period, what size is your wrist?
It does wear very modern! My wrist is 167 mm but this watch would look great on someone with large wrists. The lug to lug is quite long at 46 mm.
Not sure this can go any lower. $750 for a jumbo cased, very early Seamaster with notable 332 movement!
How is this still here at this price?! I told my self no more watches until the next big purchase. Must be strong....
Bump! I'm not sure either! Maybe the watch is cursed and I didn't know about it? Let's get this one sold! $700
Happy to split international shipping. Free USA shipping. Beautiful watch in person with great wrist presence!
Someone got a wonderful deal on this watch. If I wore formal attire more often - these days I mostly work from home - I would have jumped on this one. Congrats to seller and buyer.
