Hi, A few more watches I can buy, but not sure, let me show them to you guys and I appreciate any and all fb: 1) 2) 3) 4) Have at it!
Thanks. 4 does come with an extract of archives, confirming it was shipped to brazil etc. I don't know how much that matters
Thanks, I will avoid #3. Out of curiosity: how come there is so little interest in the Moonphase? Unlike for the Connies/Seamasters, for which there is heated discussion, for this, no one seems to care much!
The only one that is anywhere close to acceptable condition is #2 imo. @iluvconnie, have you tried to look at the watches and make your own opinon, or are you just trowing everything you find at us at random?
All seem ok besides #3, and #4 takes a true expert. I am here to learn, and do not have the knowledge to advice you as well as the rest of the community. Having said that, practice makes perfect so let me take a swing at it. You can see the following areas of concern that would allow said conclusions on #3. I would stay away from anything you do not have very specific answers to, or assessments of through the OF community. They've guided me to several high condition, original purchases... Very pleased! Happy Hunting, Thomas
I am learning from this. But I think for now, I will post pics here rather than make decisions (on dials) myself, hopefully in a few months/years I can be more expert.
OK so watch #3 is out, I won't even consider that. Interesting to note that condition of #2 only is acceptable. Obviously OF members are far more demanding of condition than me, at this point, I thought watch #1 for instance, was good condition for a vintage.
The problem with no 1 is the case. Compare it to other examples and you'll see all the detail and sharp edges have been polished away.
Visit the "Worst redial" thread for practice. I'd also take a look at the search function and type in "Redial" you'll find a plethora of threads just like yours where you can read through the user assessments to see how they determine "Original" from "Redial. Practice makes perfect! I try to get at least two/three watches under a loupe daily...Keep the eyes sharp and the mind sharper - Kick the ego to the side and get your notepad out! OF is a great place to learn. Best, Thomas
I have been reading thru number of the "redial" threads and have a question about the #3 dial on this thread. I have noticed that this "S" on Seamaster is very common on redials. Did Omega ever use that font or is that style of S maybe the signature of the person/shop that is creating these redials?
