I am questioning the dial on this one because it does not read Conquest. The entire watch seems way too clean, but I love it despite the crown issue. http://www.ebay.com/itm/222219651646?_trksid=p2055359.m2763.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I'd pass on it but not for the lack of Conquest. Besides the crown, the rotor has all the ink worn off of it (It should say LONGINES plus some extra text) which tells me it was scraping or was washed away from moisture - probably both judging by the looks of the movement. Plus there's pitting on the inside of the caseback edges.
Thanks! Bummer! I'll keep at it. That fish is way too cool!! Plus, my wife loves the Kentucky Derby and watching it with her is always enjoyable. Given that Longines is the official timekeeper, a vintage watch of this brand gave me a good feeling. I'll keep on the hunt for the Conquest or a Seamaster.
Without even looking at the rest of the watch, the movement would kill it for me. It looks like the last watchmaker was a gorilla on smack using a cold chisel.
I noticed that it looked pretty chewed up where the movement should show decoration. Not sure how that was managed. Is that price range reasonable for a vintage Conquest?
If it were in better condition, the $500 ballpark is decent. The mint examples of Conquests like this fetch $750 up to $1000, and the generic (no Conquest on the dial) version gets $600 to $750 in the same mint condition.
