Hi All, This is a cal. 266 from the early 1950s - I think 54. Dial certainly doesn't look NEW to me - but what do you think? Is it a redial? I can't seem to find any 266s with a similar one... Thanks!!
Need better resolution, but I'd lean towards original on this one. Seconds hand might be a replacement. They are usually longer and thinner. gatorcpa
Here's hoping. Will get better photos asap. Thanks for the help gatorcpa - this forum is fantastic and becoming exceptionally addictive!!
whatever the result i think its an amazing watch - ye crown is replaced... but it might be hard to find one exactly matching the base color
Thanks hoipolloi - I definitely didn't notice uneven minute markers, but the black dial is what made me post the qn in the first place.
There is so much dust on the dial and/or the crystal, I can't tell crystal distortion from dirt from the actual minutes register. In addition, it is very difficult to photograph black dials properly. That's why I said you'd need more detailed pictures. However, the logo and Swiss Made fonts look correct and the sub-second markings go out to the edge of the sub-dial. Very hard for a redialler to get that right. Printing is gilt and matches the hands. Crown might also be replacement, or an issue with the lighting. Could very well be a redial, but I'm not so quick to dismiss it as such. The only way to tell for sure on a dial like this is to view it in person. gatorcpa P.S. - Hoi and I disagree on these quite often. All is good!
First real post and the big guns of OF are already arguing over it :-P Thanks for both of your help and advice guys - will get better photos ASAP...
