This seller keeps coming up in my Etsy searches, and many of the dials on their watches make me say hmmmm. I am not interested in buying this one, more about educating myself and being a sheepdog. Wondering what you think of this one. It looks like glue (maybe dirt?) by the 11 marker, the crosshairs aren’t aligned, esp by 6 and are weird near Omega logo, T Swiss T but no lume to be seen. Redial? The rotor also does not look as good as I would think for a recently cleaned watch. Apologies about the photos, I can’t seem to get them on the bottom of the post. The ad says...

A fantastic example of a vintage OMEGA AUTOMATIC Model 2445-6 dating to 1950. The gold plated case which measures 32mm in width excluding the signed OMEGA crown is in near flawless condition. The original face and hands are near perfect in their condition also. The crystal is new having been recently replaced. The gold plated case back does have one small area of wear on it as can be seen in the photo. The moveent is a superb OMEGA signed Cal. 351 Bumper Automatic (Bumper Automatics were the first generation of thi stype of watch by Omega) The movement has 17 jewels and is identified witht he serial number 12,xx9,x63 dating ti to 1950. The movement has been cleaned and oiled and is in fine working order. The watch is presented on a new 18mm leather strap.

The Crosshair looks like it has been applied, with a ‘sharpie’

I don't like it. I can't put my finger on why but the Omega text being much larger than Automatic looks wrong for the early 50s. The flat A is good in automatic but should be on Omega too at this date. I don't think its original. The way the crosshair clashes with the M isn't nice either.

Original 50s fonts had very small serifs, these disappeared later.

I provided the overall feedback to the seller, who then asked me to kindly never speak to them again - no problem there :). I’ll let Etsy know

It’s one thing to say “I have a nice looking Omega for sale”. I don’t think it’s nice looking with that wierd dial lettering and overly busy second track but someone may, so it would be a genuine subjective statement to use in a listing. It’s another to make all those claims. This is 100% a redial IMO.

If anyone else is surveying their comfort level with using Etsy, after a few emails to Etsy’s marketplace integrity team I received this reply:

For privacy reasons, we can't discuss other member's shops or listings, or the actions that we may or may not take regarding someone else's shop.

However, we'll be sure to review your report as soon as possible to determine whether this item meets our policies. Please note that we require our members to accurately present their shops and items when selling on Etsy.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
