Just a quick heads up for anyone looking to replace a missing or damaged No3 red box, there are a ton of fakes hitting eBay at the moment.

Identifiable by either fully Matt, or Fully Chrome badges on the box - and often shipping with an "I" paperback instruction manual (the "I" was only available in hard back).

These are regularly going for £100+ which is a touch odd, given that you can still (just about) buy new ones from an OB for £50.

If you need a new red box, contact your OB ASAP, as they are running down remaining stock and now issue wood boxes for both steel (Oak effect), and gold (mahogany) men's watches - when they're gone, they're gone ladies and gents!

Interesting. Last time I spoke to Omega UK directly, they said they only now supplied the wooden one as a replacement and couldn't supply the red one any more. Perhaps there is still some stock in the OB network.

Ironically these fakes are probably less prone to peeling than the real ones. Really pleased they moved on to the wooden boxes.

I'm not! Have you seen the size of them and tried posting one? They weigh about 3kg when packaged meaning that Special Delivery cost around £30. Also not ideal if you have a collection of watches and need the space to store them

I thought from the title that there was a health warning from the disintegration of these boxes. Something akin to asbestos.:(

I was hitting the same issue.

Sloane Square OB in London appears to have taken the stock from all the other London OB's - the lady I bought mine from last week said they were more popular than the wooden boxes with their customers.

Replacement light wood (oak effect) is £100, dark £200

Well omega no longer use the red box... so fakers will stop using the red box too... because they want to fake whatever Omega sells at a given time.

Yes, I can do that... as long as the mods are ok with it?

As someone who is thinking of buying a brand new Omega Seamaster from Beaverbrooks here in the UK, should I watch out the box I'm given from the retailer or should I be okay?

I'm guessing mine (2015 Seamaster 300M) should be in a red box or can I request a wooden one?

At this stage from an AD they should all be coming in wooden boxes...

Thanks for confirming that, I'll email ahead to confirm what box it is before I buy it.

I just hope we don't start to see any Franken boxes hit the market. Legit 2006 box, 2016 fake Chinese made pillow.... Padding in cardboard outer box replaced with period incorrect foam....

Not sure that would ever be a thing.

Just keen for people not to pay more than a genuine one costs from Omega, for a hooky Asian fake..,

I don't know if it will be a thing, too, but the market on period correct 2004-2006 foam has been drying up lately...... I guess we will see.

Make fun all you like. People like to have full sets with their watches. The opportunity to get a new set, at a low price, through legit channels is coming to a close... that's all this is about.
