...Pretty rare reference, I've only seen one posted by LouS.

There are a few A277's among ΩF members. These are getting harder to find. That price is about right for the condition. And the red paddle hand is... interesting. Maybe a repainted original hand?

Is the movado vs. zenith bezel difference concluded as variance?

A277 I believe? And it was sold, very fast.
Not fast, actually. Omega Forums effect or coincidence? This watch sat on the 'bay from May 2014 on at least (my earliest reference), then for € 3200, IMHO too expensive for a project's starting point. Though, I have to admit that my Zenith ref. A277 with bracelet was a bit more expensive:

Good to see my posts here helped someone out!

Yours is much nicer, so I wouldn't feel too bad about the price difference [emoji41]

These I believe are cheap. Although 3 years ago they were $1250. But anything of this ilk in other brands brings $5K

Yeah, what he said.
A year or so ago I tought these were expensive at $3ish, now given Universal madness and Heuer fever, I think they're a bargain.

I do like this reference, and on my short list for 2016.

Paul,
It might appear gluttonous on the heels of the Cairelli....

That is a risk I am willing to bear.😁

What's the verdict on this 40T? Insides are nice and clean, but dial looks comparatively filthy, though I suspect it would clean up nicely. Also no indication of adjustments to the movement but it's marked as a chronometre.

The movement is fine - I have two 40T chronometres and they are both the same. I don't like the dial though. I doubt if it will clean up well enough and the ink on these is particularly fragile.

Lastly, IMHO, the wanker's reserve is higher than the value of this example. You should be able to get one with a good dial for that amount of cash.

That's a shame, I think it's a good looking watch... I'm a big fan of applied markers.

There's a nice S58 up: I think a bit of polywatch will have it looking good as new.

I am no expert but I just spent 1/2 hour looking at others.
I know it's normal for the numeral lume to look wonky on these,
but if you look at the "6" and the "9", it looks like there's
2 layers of lume, one peeking out from behind?
What's everyone else

I agree that the S.58 has been visibly re-lumed on numerals, and on the markers as well. (1) The black-edged margins of the printed numerals on unmolested dials of the S.58 are crisp and distinct especially on white/light examples; (2) I usually see that vintage lume has blackened on S.58s, whatever Zenith were using back then goes toward dark; rare to see it creamy or this thick white color.

The S58 looks relumed on the numbers, the crystal will be a b-t-h to find. Really rare watch and lovely to wear
