The watch is in VG Conditions, unmolested case, caseback nerver opened, than I thought original movement inside, clear brilliant dial... I think original hands untouched.
I think it is very difficult make great pics to a such stunning watch... in person is a great watch!

Case is a little dinged up and those sharp edges at top and bottom have, as usual, been distorted a bit by polishing. Crown and bracelet are not Zenith. Movement looks OK. Nice looking dial and hands. Will probably hit $5k, despite the shortcomings.

Agree with the assessment - kudos to the seller for being unusually scrupulous in his photography.

Another polished example. I've seen about 5 examples for sale in the last year and mostly polished. But still crossing my fingers that I can find a reasonably good one out there.


Yes, savagely overpolished. It seems I see more overpolished A 3817s than any other reference in this case. What is it about these watches that makes people take belt-sanders to them?

Most of these owners realised they prefer round watches to these after a while.

So, was $4000.00 a good or bad price for this a3817? I thought the face was very beautifully aged and correct.

I think $4100 was reasonable. The case is not perfect, but a similar one with blunted edges went for more than $6k one year ago. This will be a decent investment.

It looks OK. Service hands and crown. Better photos of the outside and inside of the case would help confirm authenticity. Movement shot would also be nice.
