He's a dealer rather than someone cashing out. Chris bought his square 133.8 chronometre from him. The first two have been for sale since before Christmas and I think he has a gold El Primero that has been polished to within an inch of its life that has been for sale since last autumn. As you can see, he's not shy with his pricing but he does advertise on either Chrono24 or James List (can't remember which) so he should be open to negotiation outside of Paypal.

Can someone remind me of why these Cairelli Air Force chronos are so expensive? Nice watches, to be sure - I'd love to have one - but hardly rare compared to many other Zenith models of the same era.
The price of that one made my eyes water. I have noticed at auctions recently, that the price of military watches seems to bear no resemblance to their civilian counterparts, often by a factor of at least two. Perhaps this has some bearing on the Ciarelli prices.
They're big (43mm), they look and feel great on the wrist, they have the military angle (which widens the appeal well beyond the Zenith faithful). And when you put one on, you're invested with the mojo of an Italian fighter pilot... you start to have flashbacks to days spent frolicking with Alitalia stewardesses on Capri. Just look how happy my wrist is today: C'mon, $8500 is a bargain. Well, maybe $5-6k. But it's a great watch. Not an El Primero and not ultra-rare, but probably less common in decent shape than the A386, given that the production numbers were the same and that the assigned Cairellis likely took a much greater overall beating from those who wore them.
Mebee all that, but this one is subpar - wrong bezel (good luck finding an original ), a personalized inscription on the back and a fair bit of wear. Not worth anywhere near top dollar
Lou, my poor opinion about this engraved caseback: not original issued.. NEVER issued to PS Confirm wrong bezel GIGI
Just to be clear: I was endorsing the Zenith Cairelli in general... never looked at this particular watch. Agree the bezel is a bad replacement. The "P.S." inscription, as I think papaebetu suggests, probably refers to the Pubblica Sicurezza. Galizia shows a similar inscription on a Cairelli his book. Why anyone would fake an inscription assigning a Cairelli to the state police is beyond me... I can't imagine it would bring the value up... but who knows.
An issued watch to Army Corps need the issued number.... here where is ? I do not think brushed away, but never been on it
I agree with you. This one was never issued to the military. Galizia, in his "Orologi Militari" shows one with "PS" that he says was issued to a helicopter pilot of the Pubblica Sicurezza, but that one also has the A. Cairelli inscription instead of the M.M. ######. Maybe the state police got a few unassigned leftovers from Cairelli and mutilated them with bad inscriptions.
Probably not easy to find part? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zenith-Chro...183785047?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3ccfc44857Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
