We have lots of threads from members asking opinions on watches listed on ebay. How about we turn things around - let's talk about watches on ebay that are worth purchasing. My disclaimer is that I am not affiliated with any of the sellers whose watches I post here and cannot make any guarantees except to say the watch in the listing looks good to me.

Here is one - a nice looking vintage seamaster:

And a nice looking vintage piepan constellation - I would like better pictures but the ones up in the listing suggest a decent watch. What makes this uncommon is that the markers are silver and not yellow gold. Seller accepts returns so you have some level of security.

Nope. The first one looks very good, the case is excellent too. I would take the movement out so that the back portions of the case can be cleaned of and then a new gasket put in along with servicing. Polishing the crystal and a wipe down of the case with just a hand polishing cloth (lightly) and the baby will shine and dazzle.

The dial is original - look at the rest of the watch - the condition is very nice. Case is nice and sharp and even strap and buckle look to be original to the watch. All things considered the BIN is a good price for the watch.

Number 2. A little pricey perhaps but a nice watch that can be cleaned up a bit. The spotting on dial around 7 may be very cleanable and the case has good lines. The case back looks nice, good stars. Movement is the unknown.

Well that must mean you have some money left, that's the problem :D. If I did not have a similar NOS watch to the first one I would snatch it up.

You won't regret that one. Willing to buy that strap warts and all if you decide you don't want it - or I'll trade you a nice new strap for it.

I'll let you know about the strap - I'm inclined to apply a light coat of shoe polish, some elbow grease and see how it turns out. I already alerted Steve (N2FHL) that it will be going his way for his assessment and proper love/care. ;)

I agree - not foolproof but it is a high feedback seller with a no questions asked return policy so there is that added level of security. But as I had stated if the dial is original - it is piepan and has steel/white gold markers so it is an uncommon piece and the case looks decent.

The only thing that makes me look twice at that Seamaster is the SWISS MADE. I have seen early examples with this spacing and curvature that didn't match the arc of the dial, but they aren't very common. Otherwise it's a hell of a nice watch.

Not an eBay watch, but from a dealer I've bought from in the past. His prices are, well, dealer's prices, but not outrageous, and his watchmaker knows what he's doing at least, so all watches are serviced well.

He has a gold-capped 2852 cal. 501, minimally polished Constellation with beautiful original domed dial for $1550, a pretty fair price for one in this condition, I think, and serviced:

Looks like alam got that first one.

And that gold-capped connie suggested by adam78 is in excellent condition.

Great idea, how about including a UK watch occasionally.
