Here's an all stainless Clinton with the box and papers for $140. The dial shows some discoloration, but overall it's pretty nice.

I have a nice little Clinton diver (posted in the cheap diver thread long ago), that someone coined the Lewinsky. It actually is a nicely made watch...but that depends on what the definition of is-is. 馃槈

Dude is honest in his description, even mentions the 1 jewel movement as not being anything to write home about. But he says it was serviced so that鈥檚 a plus. The size is interesting, probably why it has the bidders it does. I think it could probably go up to $200 just because anything like it with a 17+jewel movement would be $250+.

You got a point, I might give it a shot. I'll see, i like divers that have a few scars here and there.

Picked one up a few months back as my current watch box was 'outnumbered'...it works, but the fit and finish matches the price.

I expect it to be cheap and underwhelming, and I guess it can fall apart after a few years and age poorly with little or no use, like some cheap watch boxes. But it beats many alternatives such as having multiple watches all over the place and in drawers.

The case club or like one is the one to get. But it's two bills.

Let me see if I can find the one I bought many years back - they were very inexpensive and made of wood - very nice looking. It's held up quite well.

*edit* here it is - I bought it from Acetimer.com:

They have LOTS of options that are all mostly inexpensive. I didn't want a glass top case, so I opted for this one. I've had it for at least a decade now - probably 12-14 years IIRC.

Another for the ladies. 14k WGF ladies Omega cocktail watch. I gave one of these to my lady a few years ago and she loves it, it鈥檚 more jewelry than a timepiece as it鈥檚 so damn small. This seller claims it was serviced so that accounts for some of the value. If you鈥檙e not a woman, then a Birthday, anniversary- the holidays are right around the corner.

I've said this before, but the best way to save money when buying these bargains is to have a baseline you don't cross. For me it's that the watch has to be all stainless steel - no chrome cases. This isn't 100% - ie if I found something for $25 I'd probably break this rule. But in general I only want all SS. And it has to be bigger than 36MM. And has to be less than ~$75. As you might imagine, I don't end up buying much. :-D

Well that watch sold, but I'd have passed at one third that price after looking at the image of the movement.

It looks like parts are coated with a thin dusting of dried rust.

I forgot to bid in the end... I'll keep track of the seller as he has another vintage diver bit pricey but I hope to work him down. And if he gets a positive feedback for the 1st transaction I might jump on the other piece if he budges. I quite like the broad arrow diver he has listed - if only cheaper.

Wise words. It's very easy to be impulsive on eBay.

I don鈥檛 need another 40鈥檚 chrono project, please someone buy this!! Most likely a Landeron, I have a Leonidas with the same dial. Crown and one pusher is pitted but the rest of the case looks surprisingly good (crown is easy).- Crystal has a crack, scratch on the left sub-dial but it鈥檚 not awful. Chrono runs slow, so needs a service- they all do anyway.
This is a bargain with a make offer- I am about to make an offer unless someone else does....because I don鈥檛 need another 40鈥檚 chrono project!!!

No! No! No! No!

Not looking. No interest. Nothing to see.

I am about to embark on a chrono research mission. Pretty much looking for a watch of this nature.

Buying this would scrub the whole project. A learning opportunity squashed.

But hey, what's the harm in clicking the link?

Remember, these are smaller than modern chronos at 34-35mm, but I love their size

Ok, ok, ok! As a service to you, FOR the service you've provided to this thread/community...I will take on the duty of making an offer! (hopefully the 'duty' reference doesn't hop threads to the 'Fake chrono, anvil, safety glasses and sledge hammer' thread...things got heated over there!)

Interesting experience...first two offers auto denied, so maybe the third is the charm? This will rotate nicely with my '40's Croton snail...chrome is roached out, but I liked the look regardless.
