Who’s up for another round of shitty pic bargain gamble?

Stainless Croton, no clue what size, no clue what condition the dial is in, but may be ok? Case looks sharp and has a nice looking movement. Seller says running fast…for the watch handy, but priced accordingly and has make offer.

So do you guys try to self-service these cheapos or just regulate as best as possible and wear them?

I personally just regulate the cheapo’s unless it’s one I really love, then I send it to be properly serviced. Some bargain hunters are fairly handy and can do some of the work themselves.

I do also have a box of “bargain” watches that are either back burner or parts watches- I think many of us do.

Nice looking Bulova priced just right. Those thick lumed hands are a real treat.

Crown look aftermarket but not a big deal, it’s right where it counts. Very nice price for an attractive Bulova,

That seller has some fun pieces that aren’t pricey at all. This fun little diver has a pretty dial with large lumed numbers and a very cool hexagonal case (chrome plated but in nice shape). A lot to like for $50!

Missing bezel though, so you would be going Brando

Well look at that! Didn’t even notice so it can’t be that bad a look. Maybe the seller should list is as a Brando Heritage and ask 4x more 😁

For someone looking to dip their toes into Certina DS(-2) ownership, this could be a pretty good place to start:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/224838386957?hash=item345969850d:g:nu0AAOSwSvRiCmwK

The case condition is great, it comes on an original bracelet (and possibly in a Certina box?) and the dial looks very good. The seller even takes offers. Hard to beat!

Nice one! Condition of the dial and case does look nice. Question for the more savvy, can that crazed crystal be salvaged or will it need to be replaced?

It looks like scratches and not shrinkage to me, so should be salvagable. I rarely see DS crystals that have suffered from shrinkage, probably due to the thickness.

Surface scratches can be polished out without worrying about taking too much material off the crystal. These are very thick in comparison with other watches.

However, if there are internal cracks, the crystal should be replaced. I used to have a source for NOS Certina DS-2 crystals in Portugal, but I think that eBay ran them off.

Edit - They’re back!

Oooh, that was a cool/good value one. My DS-2 has the same bracelet, which I like a lot - very comfortable if perhaps a bit delicate for a "dive watch" - but I doubt they will actually be used for that now.

Not that gatorcpa needs validation but I had good luck with this seller too.

Thank you, let's see what arrives. 😉
I've been searching for a decent DS-2 for a while now.
