So the Constellation from the recommended thread that I won a little to my surprise finally arrived this week. The seller and her post office got caught in Sandy before the watch went out, but all's well in the end (including the seller, I'm glad to say, and I presume the post office)

    Here 'tis for forum review

    and with a competitor

Now, can someone tell me how to open it? I see no way of engaging the chucks of a case opener. And it can't be a snapback, can it?

Oh, and what is the proper crown for it?

Thanks all for the guidance. Constellation count now at two, and I like it as much as the first (http://omegaforums.net/threads/constellation-164-008.1933/), although in a different way. That one was sleek and spare, this has more little more opulence to it.

Very nice constellation and well bought. It is a snapback and if you don't know how to open it then I wouldn't try - too risky to scratch up what looks like a nice case.

I do know (unless there is secret Omega snapback technology I don't know about), just wanted a confirmation before I took the knife to it - the place to engage the knife is not immediately evident.

...and in fact now that I look, I see that the friendy watchmaker who worked on it previously lined it up with a lug, thankyouverymuch.:whipped:

Nope, no secret notches unless it is a notch created by the case being opened up earlier. These connies though pop open pretty easily with the usual technique even if there is no evident gap.

It should be on the side of the case opposite the crown unless somebody put the caseback on wrong the last time it was open.

Nice watch. I think it should have a decagon or clover crown.

Nice watch Lou! You should be able to open it from the side. Is the Longines rose? :)

Thank you gents for the appreciation and advice

...and so they have, with the aperture right at the base of one of the lugs. That stops me from inserting the case knife blade perpendicularly, which means I can't get any leverage on the case back::blowup::

Now that I have a matched Constellation?

Plated only. Still, Dennis seems to not hate it.....

That's very interesting to me, esp as I am seeking to understand this textured dial appreciation you Omega guys have. Give me a month with the new baby, and then we'll talk...
