Recommend a cheap degausser?

A few weeks ago I bought a new laptop to replace my long serving and much loved Toshiba Satellite. Well, it took me far too long to realise that there's quite a strong magnet on the closer. As a result, I have far too many watches that are running fast.

I can find a few professional degaussers online in the £250 range but there are also a few plasticky looking boxes at a tenth of that. Can anyone recommend one of these cheaper versions as worthwhile and reliable?

If you have access to one of the old style computer monitors with the fat backs, they have a degaussing feature for the screen which works very well on watches.

Pretty sure the $12 USD eBay special will do the trick as well as a much more expensive one.

I read that on a few sites when I was searching and just ignored it as I don't have a CRT TV or monitor .... At least I didn't think I had. I have a strange feeling there's a monitor in the back. Way, way in the back.
