...at £4100 here in the UK. I've found an option with a very small discount so I'd obviously go for that, however I'm really in two minds.

I like the design overall, and the lumed bezel is really nice. The lollipop isn't quite as cool as my Spectre but I like it nonetheless. The only issues for me are a lack of deployant clasp on such an expensive watch, bringing me to the other issue, the price of £4100. Not a huge amount in today's market, but my TinTin cost so much less and yet seems the more versatile watch.

I feel you on the deployant clasp.

If you are buying from a boutique or AD I'm pretty sure they could throw in a deployant to close the deal. They could probably throw in a nato or something like that, too.

You are basically paying full price which means full profit for them so they have some wiggle room as far as freebies.

Nice piece by the way.

I thought you were trying to get a vintage 321? I think with this model you can pick it up, then flip it if you find yourself not bonding with it. Also if you do end up getting this and the 321, you start having a fairly heavy amount of Speedy's in your collection.

It does have a lumed bezel?

My local AD are one of those that think the world owes them a favour. Very inflexible for the most part.

Still want a vintage one, but my current TinTin needs friends :-D

Yes, a lumed bezel. Green lume on this watch though. Shame it wasn't blue.

Ah like the german T-COM ... they think that 'customerfriendly' means: customers have to be very friendly to them 😝

Hold on a sec.

You're not entirely comfortable with the price, the lack of a deployant out of the box and you've already said your "TinTin cost so much less and yet seems the more versatile watch."

Don't buy it - wait until something comes along that really sings to you without any bum notes. You won't feel the need to get opinions from a forum when that happens 😀 👍

That is very true. It sounds like you are making too many concessions for the price you are paying. I would say walk if they can't at least throw in the deployant.

I'm not sure lack of deployant and pricing really count as bum notes. He clearly loves the watch design, minus the lollipop. The other issues are just money concerns 😀

Well, if you got the pockets for "friends." ::psy:: I think it's good advice to wait for something to really tug at you to the point where it's irrelevant what the forum's views are.

Imho, if you buy a watch and every time you look at it you think "Nice, but I paid too much", then your pleasure of ownership is diminished. How much depends on the individual.

I wouldn't be shocked if the price on this one goes up quite a bit--looks like it will be popular. Concerns over the pricing should be short-lived... maybe. I'd be more concerned about purchasing a watch at a fantastic price, and not being happy about the dial, bezel, strap, movement, etc. I've done that before, and the result ends up with a selloff and repurchase once I come to my senses.

Thanks for all the replies. After thinking about this one, I've decided to leave it. As nice as it is, it doesn't make me say "wow" enough to spend such a lot. Instead, I'll keep looking at the vintage route instead and I know that will be more satisfying.

To me it looks much better than the TinTin. I was offered a TinTin at a really good price about a year ago and couldn't force myself to go with it. I think the CK looks a lot more special, plus it's a bit sporty and a bit dressy at the same time. Of course this is all subjective and a matter of taste.

Something more factual however is the lack of a foldover clasp. I don't see myself buying any watch without them, since I greatly prefer it both in looks and a feeling of being a lot less likely to drop the watches. Was thinking that today while driving. watch was somehow too rotated/tight and I just quickly adjusted it in a quick sloppy open/close clasp move, knowing it couldn't slip. Wouldn't do that with a normal buckle (butter hands).

You can always sell the original strap in New/Unused state for a decent amount and then buy a nice foldover alternative from Omega. That will probably increase the overall cost, tho.

And like the others said, if the magic isn't there and you have doubts already, that's usually a good sign to do nothing and save $ for something that really sticks on your mind.

I think buying a new watch is easy, but the journey of searching and tracking down the right vintage piece like the 321 that you have your sights on is more thrilling. With these new flavor of the month type of releases you just put a deposit and your name on a waiting list and wait. Then after a year of owning the watch and wearing it a handful of times because you didn't want to diminish the value of the watch you decide, maybe this wasn't what you wanted anyways and you flip it at a loss. At least with a vintage you can wear it and put your own wear marks into it without worrying about destroying the value. I think you are making the right choice. Hopefully your patience rewards you well.
