Real or Fake?

A mutual friend posted this picture of their "new watch" online, and I'd like OF's opinion on it.

I'm a bit suspicious, mainly because:

1. The bezel looks off. Not as sharp as it should be.

2. The rehaut is missing the "Rolex" engravings.

This leads me to the conclusion that the watch is

A. Not authentic

or

B. Not a "new" watch, probably from pre-2005 when the rehaut engravings became popular.

I'm still a huge rolex noob, so any contributions would be very much appreciated 馃榾

That sounds like the right answer. To determine if it is a fake, we'd need more information, like pictures from inside the watch. Even that may not be conclusive.

Rolex made pretty much the same watch from the 1960's until now. So many variations, it takes more than an out-of-focus picture to tell.

Definitely looks real, based on that one photo. I think it's got a tritium dial (aren't those little 't's' at bottom of dial?), so it would certainly be long before engraved rehauts. That gold bezel, soft to begin with, has been polished quite a bit. That's why it doesn't look sharp.
