Real or fake?

I got this, which was described as a "vintage pocket watch wristwatch". I can return it, so I just wanted to see what y'all think about the likelihood of this being authentic?

It's a pocket watch movement, re-cased and re-dialed.

It did not leave an Omega factory as a wristwatch.

Okay, but the movement looks authentic?

It’s an authentic omega pocket watch movement but that is only worth about $50. The rest of it is not Omega at all so you’ve got like $50 worth of Omega and $5 worth of Chinese marriage parts.

Why do you say that? I got it cheap and like the size plus the fact that it's not a common design, but I'd love to hear your take on why a return is the best option.

If you like it keep it, it's that simple

If you purchased it wanting an authentic Omega watch, then return it. Because it is a put-together fantasy watch.

If you purchased it because you like the way it looks, then keep it any enjoy it.

Simple as that.

Most here will say return it because they value originality over anything else.

You mainly asked us for authenticity. Authentic it’s very much not, I think hence the recommendation.

But if it was cheap (which is also subjective, I suppose) and you like the looks, who are we to judge? Honestly, if that thing cost you only some pocket money and you’re into the looks I completely understand why you’d keep it. And the amount of people who’ll notice the lack of authenticity is a very, very small group outside of this nerdy place. 😀

Thanks, I appreciate the elaboration. I'll consider keeping it.

The movement looks authentic.

The watch as a whole (as others have said) is not.

If you like it, keep it.

However to answer your original question, it is not authentic.

Why is no one giving prices 🙁
Worth about $200. Guys putting classic movements into wrist watch cases charge into the thousands.

Some of these can be very well done, but most of the stuff coming from the Ukraine isn't done particularly well...

I don't think anyone asked about prices? The OP knows what he paid... and hasn't shared that beyond saying "I got it cheap".

It’s very uncommon on discussion threads to disclose prices on original posts, feedback would be better and speculation would be less

Well, it was mentioned before that he’s got about 55$ worth of parts there - that’s probably not exactly an incentive to post whatever he paid, which is presumably a multiple of that.

I don't understand how would feedback be better if we knew what the OP paid?

He asked if it is authentic. It is not.

Knowing what he paid does not affect its authenticity.

At least it appears to be well-executed, assuming it was adjusted as well as it could have been. It doesn't look like a Ukraine special where they use cases that look like recycled cat-food cans.
