Real or fake boxes ?

Hi friends.

i was looking for an old box to put inside my 14060, 14270 and 6424 Rolex because it’s more elegant than a pouch 😀 !

I’ve find a lot on eBay, and I think after looking too much my brain was burnt and I think I’ve bought a fake box.

does anyone can confirm ?
Thanks

Hi VinceFR! I'm no expert but just going by your photos the box looks authentic to me. It looks exactly like the box that came with my 14060 when I bought it new in 1996. I still have the box (and all papers etc.) and have just checked it against your photos! Looks good...! Cheers, Ian.

If it's a fake knock-off replica imitation phony but it's as nicely made and finished as well as the real thing, does it matter?

Years ago I was selling a Daytona that had no box, and struggled to get a "real" one off of eBay. I determined that it was real because of the age and condition, figuring that any fake would look new and pristine. In the end, I don't know why these things are so important.

Now... the Omega boxes, most of those are made of wood and really quite lovely, especially for the Speedmaster and some limited editions.

I agree with mjb, if the watch looks good in the box why worry. It's all about the eye of the beholder.
I do like the box,

Yes you're right.
But if one day I sold one of the watch with the box, I don't wanna sound suspicious...

@Meyrin, I send you a PM if you can send me your box pictures please.

(I love it, the yes but, I tell my young son every day to stop with that lol)

I think you have two choices here.
Keep this nice box, and if you sell the watch advertise it as a replacement box.
You can also keep an eye out for another box that you think is 'more original' and sell the watch with that.
The extra box is probably very saleable.

Kinda scary to think people would put that much effort to fake a box!

You didn't post a photo of the top side and sides of the box. Also need to photograph at the seems and corners of the box. Others who own the real thing can help you verify.

..... in the end nobody cares about boxes as they are useless waste of storage space
No they are not!
They are a good place to hide your new acquisition from your wife.

Especially if they are branded Rolex on the outside 😝

That's when the gaffer tape is for covering.
With a Patek inside.

I can imagine people buying Philppe Dufour or FP Journe instead of AP, Vacheron or Patek just because their partner is not familiar with them 😁
