Hi all Need some of your expert opinions on this one. Like to get a 2852, but getting strange feelings on this one. Could it be a re-dial? The colour look a bit too white and the painted second indexes don't look so sharp . Also not 100% on the Automatic and Constellation typography. Cheers!
Sorry for my ignorance.. the term re-dial; does it mean replaced dial or repainted/re-worked dial or something else. New here, so trying to follow the conversation and hopefully learn some cool stuff.
It is a reprinted dial. The metal indices and logo are pressed out, dial is reprinted and the indices riveted back to the dial.
Hi @Peppe If you know enough to be looking for a specific Constellation reference you must have looked at a few Connies along the way. Constellations were never produced with only Automatic on the dial - so you don’t need to look any further to know the dial has been messed with. -and it is pretty poor redial.
If you look here you'll probably see it's already been posted by @X350 XJR, our own "Imperial Re-dial Sniffer".
Search these forums for some proper old Constellations before pulling the trigger on a deal. It will save you a lot of headaches down the road.
Hi all Thanks for confirming what I thought. I was quite sure but learnt that you never know with old watches. Amazing that you actually remember seeing the exact same watch!!!! Yea... I am a perfectionist so will probably buy from this forum anyway. Thanks all and take care!
