I've just landed a lovely 145022-69ST Straight Writing caseback, that fits in nicely with my Royal Canadian Air Force Collection. I've only ever tracked Four other examples of Speedmasters or Seamasters with Extracts indicating delivery to the RCAF. The original 1175/640 band is present and the DNN bezel is correct for this model. The dial has turned a wonderful charcoal colour. The neat coincidence is that the Serviceman bought it at CFB Baden, W. Germany in 1973, and I was there at the same time with my Parents who were stationed there 1972-74. One degree of separation! Congrats Buster, Seems that RCAF, we're real watch wis. They took great care in choosing a watch and then they looked after it. Great example!!! Any idea of how many were ordered? Pat
Hi Pat, Thanks. I'm not sure of numbers ordered and that would almost be a major record research at the Omega Archives. I wonder if they have their records catalogued by Military country of delivery?? Buster
It was more what you had as a guesstimate not Omega, though it would be cool if they did. Did you record any of the serials from previous examples? As such could guess atleast 10, 20 etc. Congrats again Pat
From the other four examples, it would appear that they were supplied over a number of years, but maybe not consecutively. The five now in total comprise a 2998-62, 1966 Speedmaster 321, 1968 SM300, 1970 SM300 and my 1973 Speedmaster 861. I'd think it would be a few hundred per year, but they seem to be rather scarce on the market. I'm just glad to now be able to preserve a little piece of history. Cheers, Buster
I picked up a 105.012 a few months ago that also shows delivery to the RCAF. I have some pictures here, including the extract: https://omegaforums.net/threads/picked-up-an-interesting-project.54563/
Excellent score. I am firmly of the belief that these were all privately purchased by the members through the CANEX stores. The true RCAF chronographs were the Omega HA-60 and 62. Buster
