Okay, this is an interesting one! At first it stumped me, then with the help of this awesome forum I was able to get more info. What we have is a neo vintage Omega Seamaster 2301 from app. the late 90s. At first I was thinking very cool, two tone, sweet white dial... but wait... Why does it say Speedmaster on the dial of what is clearly NOT a Speedmaster?!?

(Excuse the smudges and dirt on the sapphire - has all be cleaned off)

Turns out this was a rare factor Omega misprint. Such a misprint that at first Omega tried to deny its existence! (Covering up for someone drinking on the job...?) But when another collector (jmsrolls on WUS, has lots of threads there on this) managed to track down a few examples, Omega finally agreed it was a true misprint on their part. (Whoops!) More research has shown only a handful have been discovered in the wild.

She's been dubbed The Speamaster. LOVE IT!

This one is a one owner example. It's actually the owner of the state I got into recently (can be seen on my most recent sales.) This was a favorite of his, a watch he was wearing and I commented on when I went to the house. It wasn't until I looked closer that I told him I needed to do more research. Anyways, found out the above, and although he loves the watch, as per the big sell off - he's 85 and said he'd love to offer this to the forum.

The watch, box, papers, and everything that came with it originally is now in my possession. (Wearing it as I type this because it's so sweet!)

Okay, enough talk, more pics of this rare bird:

It's 36mm, but I'd say wears more like 38mm or 39mm with that crown guard. Here's a pic on my 6.5" wrist for reference:

As you can see, this has be worn. Most noticeably there are marks on the smooth 18k gold bezel. But still looks great, especially considering the age.

Lume is still surprisingly great!

He purchased it brand new from an Omega location in downtown LA, and held onto everything! I mean everything down to the hang tag and the extra link - it's all there! As you'll see, the box and papers have a decent amount of wear from storage over the years, but still pretty cool to find all together:

And the guarantee guard plus the hang tag match the serial number on the watch - this is how she was born!

Winding and setting well and keeping great time! Crown screws down tightly, all feels perfect. That being said, no service history that I know of or that he can remember, so likely something that you'd want to do, get the seals all refreshed so this can be the diver it was meant to be.

This is a very hard one to price, which is what I told the original owner. The WUS member has a few examples now, bought years ago, and I haven't found any recent sales. Most recent sales on the regular version have been in the $2500 range, so the owner has decided that is fair - let this go to a collector at that price. So $2500, which will include fully insured shipping anywhere in the US. International to be discussed.

Payment to via Paypal F&F, Wise, or Venmo.

No returns unless misrepresented. And it won't be. I have a lot of great feedback here to prove that.

Excited to pass this rare collector piece along!

Thanks for looking, and as always, thanks to OF for the space!

Cool story. Reminds me of the double 9’s Explorer that Rolex denied existed then tried to get back from the owner.

From the research I’ve done, this appears to be only the fifth one found in the states in 25 years. Very happy to say this rare bird is now sold and staying in the OF family where it belongs!
