Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some more insight on rarity and possibly value of this Omega Semaster CK 14390 with gold ring and linen dial? The hands and indexes have onyx. It also comes with an original two tone beads of rice bracelet. I have seen a couple of examples with similar dial in CK 14714, but only one CK 14390 similar to this so far. Kind regards
Careful with "original". This watch was delivered on a leather strap, assuming we can believe the Omega Vintage Database (sometimes we can't). That this watch was mated with this bracelet when it was sold is certainly possible, but unless you have the sales receipt, there's no way to prove it one way or another. The condition is quite good, at least what we can see so far. Rarity, can't say, but if you're not finding a lot of them in a search, then "rare" might apply. Value is always a personal thing; certain watches bring higher prices because of perceived desirability, and it is definitely true that condition matters. I note that the chances the crown is appropriate for this reference is low. However, the appropriate crown is plentiful on the secondary market and still, I believe, available from Omega. I would not be surprised to see this watch listed above $1000 in most places, just based on this one picture. More I cannot say.
Thank you for your swift reply and insight . The bracelet is original Omega, but as you say this watch most likely delivered on a leather strap when it first was sold. I agree with the crown, I’ll have to find an original one for this reference.
The additional pictures show sharp bevels on the lugs, which implies some idiot with a buffing wheel never got his hands on that case. That raises the desirability and hence the price. Do you already own this watch, and if so, do you want to share what you paid? If so, we can give you a range of opinions, some of which may be "that's high but look what you got for your money!"
I did some research and Omega's current replacement crown is the 45003ST, which is available here on the open market: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124575393036Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network However, a watchmaker with an Omega parts account will possibly charge less.
They case on this watch appears to be unpolished and I like it that way. I do own this watch and I got it in a trade with an Omega CK 14704 with tapestry dial a few years ago. The CK 14704 I paid $550 a few years back.
The movement is missing one of the movement holders but I’m having this fixed when the watch is getting serviced
I’ve never seen this dial before but I really like it. Congratulations you have had a touch by the sounds of it. May I ask Is it a 34mm?
