It is extremely difficult to value a rare item such as that one. It is definitely quite valuable, but whether it is worth what he is asking can only be answered by a prospective buyer.

Wow, that's awesome! Does it do anything? I've never seen one either but it does look genuine to me. The reference to the British Empire Games ( held in Ontario, Canada in 1930 ) and also the Canadian Pacific Airlines makes me think it has come from a French speaking area of Canada. Judging from the RAF bomber which looks like it could be a Wellington perhaps in the late 1930's or early 1940's.

I love it and would buy it, although I'm not sure I'd stretch to $4k for it and how much is difficult to say....

Looks like some kind of an advertising display. OK, so I'm stating the obvious. The inscription at the bottom reads, "A century of service and precision". My guess is that it was made for the 100th anniversary of Omega in 1948. It was probably displayed in a shop window, along with contemporary offerings from Omega like the Centenary.

This is very cool, although the hairsping seems to have had better days. No clue on the value, but this collector would rather have a gold Centenary for his $4K, with about $1K change coming back.

Then again, if you have a big museum-type display of Omega watches in your home, then it would be the centerpiece. It's just that a secondary market would be very limited.

Calling @Bill Sohne for his opinion on this unique advertising piece.

@gatorcpa's point is correct, if its a century of service it has to be 1948 or onwards

Oh boy, I'd love to have that on my wall. But one look at that price and I'd head for the hills. Looks like a pawn shop? I'd like to know where he's pulling that value from. A quick check on ebay and I could find nothing similar.

Really cool advertising piece, I would imagine very rare to find. Hard to compare prices on a unique item as such, Be a great addition to any collection.
Probably from a pocket, it seems to big to be from a wristwatch.:D

Cool sign. Wonder how bad the Omega Museum would want it....

That's where he's pulling the price from. Wouldn't be surprised to hear it's unique but I am wondering if there's a mechanism on the back to make it run.

Edit: the reference to the British Empire Games is a little odd, though - the Game were not held in 42 or 46 due to WWII. In 38 they were in Sydney and 50 was New Zealand. (For the non-Colonials, the British Empire Games are now the Commonwealth Games and held every 4 years, much like the Olympics).

Without a comparison the value of any 'unique' item is purely guess work.
The value becomes apparent when 2 or more potential owners can't live without it.

4K is a joke. 1K maybe, at a push, on a good day, downhill, with luck and a following wind.

You seem interested, and at a price that I think many would find to be "optimistic" for the item. I doubt it's going anywhere soon at that price. Offer something well below, leave your information in case he reconsiders, and walk for now. At least that's what I would do unless you just can't live without it.
