·This scarce and rare watch, come from a fine legacy of rectangular and square watches from Omega. Full stainless steel two - body, inclined curved thin bezel and beautiful straight angles lugs, is a nice solid SS case in the line of the high end domed constructed watch cases.
The curved lines of the bezel and the case, with the curved domed Plexiglas, gives this watch a superb look in the wrist , elegant and grown up, impressive for his understated luxury. Most of this watch where made in 18 k solid gold ( around 1800/2.200 USD ) and gold plated with dagger hands, stainless steel cases with batons hands are even more rare.
In 1955 the majority of the first brand watches exhibit thick bezels and round cases, I think that in some way, this was a reissued from Omega nostalgic 1930's rectangular models, but using all the technology and hand craft skills available in that year. For this model, Omega use the first full rotor automatic caliber 471, 25 mm diameter, the most advanced automatic movement from this Swiss Company. 19 jewels, first generation, serial number 1478XXXX, dated this watch in the earliest 1955. In 1951, Omega introduced the hand wind square Cosmic moonphase watch, this 3971-1 SC case ref. watch follow the same curved and domed design.
The watch measure 28 mm wide excluding the winding crown, 30 mm including the flat crown and 38,90 mm lug to lug. Sizes are very similar like the JLC Reverso model, ( 23 mm x 38 mm ) and the size of the Omega Cosmic Square Moonphase ( 33 x 33 mm)
Original signed Omega domed curved Plexiglas, pink gold batons hour hands, hours markers and pink gold raised logo, light ageing cream dial, original SS Omega signed crown, correspond for the case, movement, model and year.
Barely used original dark brown leather Condor strap with deployment.
Fully serviced few days ago. The watch's gait is vigorous and strong with very good precision.
The condition of the watch is very good and original for a 62 years old watch, is a hard to find model, that's why I ask 750 EUR / 815 USD / 650 GBP shipped / Pay Pal included. Plenty of reference in this respectable Forum.
